Ball Family File

Includes 7 letters & 1 envelope (ca. 1862 - 1865). Most of the letters were received at family members’ homes in the area of Lewisville in Franklin Township, Henry County, Indiana. Among the correspondents were:

  • Samuel P. Ball (b. June 5, 1814; d. November 21, 1885);
  • Thomas J. Ball (b. 1843; d. June 2, 1863) 69th Indiana Infantry Regiment, Co. I, killed at the Battle of Milliken’s Bend, Louisiana;
  • John C. Ball (b. December 12, 1846; d. February 7, 1925) 84th Indiana Infantry Regiment, Co. I;
  • William D. Ball (b. November 24, 1848; d. March 15, 1913), 84th Indiana Infantry Regiment, Co. I;
  • Nancy Ellen Ball (b. ca. 1850; d. October 3, 1868); and
  • Daniel R. and Calvin Ball, residents of Akron, Fulton County, Indiana.

Sometimes difficult to decipher, the letters are presented along with transcripts, allowing for easy page by page viewing.
