Artist Statement	Throughout my work I express my inspiration from natural elements. I draw most of my ideas from different plant forms, patterns, and structures found in the outside world. These influences led me to creating one of a kind pieces of jewelry and art. The usage of natural elements doesn't just stop at the level of idea forming. Most of my work is directly derived from leaves, twigs, sticks, stones, and even tree bark. Through the process of electroforming I can laminate a layer of copper over these found objects to capture their likeness. All of the structures in my work that appear to be leaves or other parts of fauna actually are, from the handle of a chalice to the bark links on a bracelet. These structures were formed around the real objects. The organic bits would deteriorate over time so they are burned out leaving hollow or single sided metal objects. I take the electroforming technique farther by Manipulating electrical currents and flow of the charged copper particles that form the shell to achieve different textures from smooth almost mirror like to grainy, and knotted appearances. That can then be fused to the surface in a painterly aesthetic application. Other pieces also follow the natural aesthetic but have a more stylized appearance. The work is further enhanced by the contrast of silver to copper. These pieces have their own leaf like characteristics that are hinted and implied rather than stated directly.
