Artist Statement	Throughout the last few years I've gathered much of my inspiration from color, anime, Disney, celebrities, reality television shows, the Pop Art movement, and Andy Warhol. What I am trying to convey through Anonymous is how we as humans took at others how we wish to see them. We took at someone else and form an opinion about them and begin editing what we see to fit our opinions. In this particular series I'm using Lady Gaga and Hello Kitty to represent females judging other females based on their perceived outer appearances. I've found that girls are very hard on other girls, myself included, and I haven't quite worked out the reasoning for this. I've also noticed that the women, who say the most, typically are the girls who are not taking risks. They keep their heads down and keep their goats simple. Anonymous, although it includes popular icons, isn't about the icons themselves. Originally it was, but as I worked on the piece and thought about it more I decided that the situation exists further than just us versus them. It is about the reaction of the many normal girls against the few women who choose to be different. It is about women who view other women as separate from them, not a person but an object they can cast their judgments upon. It is also about younger girls becoming women and how they team to define themselves as women. There were a lot of people I took into consideration white creating my work. Hannah Barnes has been my mentor for quite some time and has provided me many insights and questions to consider that have led me to understand the directions I want to take in my art. I must thank my parents, my sister, and my roommate for listening to my constant ramblings, questions, and random outbursts white working on this.
