Artist Statement	Women as a whole have grown in their reputations in society over hundreds of generations. With inspiration from Cindy Sherman's Untitled Film Stills and the 1981 Centerfolds series, I have decided to take a more contemporary approach to photographing different types of women. Ideally, the viewers will automatically think of someone they know or relate these stereotypes in some way to their life and will begin to ponder the ways women's roles have changed over the years. Appearance and fashion have grown in importance so immensely that they have a very high impact on society itself, especially when we use it to differentiate sorts of people. Not only will the models be portraying a stereotype; their own personalities match the role they are portraying for the most part and use their clothing and surroundings to make the typecast roles believable in an abstract way. The surroundings look staged, even though they are photographed in their own environment, and the model confrontational in order to take on a different angle and feeling for these roles in a two dimensional format. Throughout my life I have always been amazed by the different roles people take on in society, not just women. I have invested much of my own time in everyday circumstances observing the way people interact, and the different roles and types of people (women in particular) have changed just in my 22 years of being. This series brings to life the way I portray these diverse types of women that surround us on a daily basis whether we realize it or not. The plan is to continue this series throughout my career to study how my own view of different stereotypes change as society is continually morphing.
