About this collection

The Friends of the Alexander M. Bracken Library Lectures and Publications include newsletters, lectures, and brochures highlighting the programs and work of the organization. Of particular note, this collection includes the lectures, officially named the E. Bruce Kirkham Lectures in 2000, which are delivered annually at the Friends of Bracken Library Dinner. The lectures and brochures included in the collection deal with a wide variety of topics including Muncie and Delaware County history, children's books, The Man Haters film, family recipes, railroads, theatre, libraries, and Native American music.

The Friends of the Alexander M. Bracken Library was established to maintain an association of persons interested in strengthening the Ball State University library system, enhancing its collections, and promoting its usefulness. Members support the University libraries through contributions of books, manuscripts, periodicals, other educational material, or financial donations. Currently, the Friends of the Alexander M. Bracken Library has approximately 2,200 members from all 50 states and over 40 countries.
