About the Ball State University Libraries' Digital Media Repository
Vision: The Digital Media Repository of
the Ball State University Libraries provides a centralized, coordinated, and
user-focused resource to serve the teaching, learning, and research needs
of students, faculty, and researchers at Ball State and beyond. It serves
as a means to bring together the digital collections and activities of the
University Libraries in a single, cohesive, and accessible Web-based environment
that also provides access to external digital resources to support the educational
process.
The focus of this initiative is to accelerate the development and digital
accessibility of these unique interdisciplinary materials by creating an infrastructure
that allows students, faculty, and researchers to bring together concepts,
data, discoveries, ideas, interpretations, and methods in powerful new ways.
Through the Initiative, the University Libraries will act as a strategic,
global access point for all types of e-content for the Digital Revolution's
24/7/365 information society. In addition, Ball State University's Digital
Media Repository will be instrumental in adding to this growing corpus of
international digital content.
Funding for CONTENTdm, the digital content management system used for the
Digital Media Repository, was made possible through the generous support
of the Friends of the Alexander M. Bracken Library and the estate of Judith
Cobb.
